Character Systems.
A character system is the technology that gives an AI a consistent identity — personality, memory, voice, appearance, and behavior — across time and across devices.
A prompt can imitate a personality for one conversation. A character system sustains one for years, keeping the same voice, values, memories, and face no matter when or how you come back.
We treat character as infrastructure, not decoration. It is the layer where language models, long-term memory, voice synthesis, and a real-time visual body meet — and the layer that ultimately decides whether a companion feels like a someone or a something.
Writing in this cluster covers how character systems are architected, how they differ from game NPCs, and how we are building ours.
